Faded to Fresh: Bringing a Custom Color Back to Life

Paint fades. It's not a flaw, it's just what happens after years of sun, wind, and temperature swings in Central Oregon. This home had a dark grey-blue exterior that had gone chalky and washed out over the years. For this repaint, we custom matched the color to a Tuff Shed already on the property, so the house and shed now match perfectly.

Same Color, New Life

When a color has faded and chalked like this, you can't just add a fresh coat over the top and expect it to hold. Chalky paint means the surface is breaking down, and new paint needs something solid to grip onto. We start with a pressure wash to pull that chalk off, then prep every surface so the new coat actually bonds instead of just sitting on top of dying paint.

From there we applied the fresh custom-matched color, mixed to line up with the shed. No guessing, no drifting off the shade. The result is a house and shed that finally read as one cohesive property.

Why This Matters More Than People Think

A faded exterior does more than look tired. Chalking paint means the protective layer is wearing thin, and the siding underneath is more exposed to moisture and UV than it should be. Catching it and repainting at this stage protects the material long-term, not just the curb appeal.

And the curb appeal difference is real too. Side by side, the fresh coat makes the whole house look taken care of again, which matters whether you're staying put or thinking about resale down the line.
